This exhibition is a follow-up to Missirkov/Bogdanov’s documentary The Cars We Drove Into Capitalism, exploring the phenomenon of Socialist cars in Europe nowadays. The film tells the stories of various Socialist car owners across the continent — collectors, fans, restorers, museum owners, yound and old, men and women. For all of them these cars are not just outdated tin cans, but a vehicle to pursue their dreams, to express themselves or to build a personal “time machine” transporting them back into their youth.

The themes of illusions, dreams, phantasma, present and past are developed in a variety of media, creating a complex mixed-media installation. The film-like narrative of the exhibition is structured in four consecutive parts.
